Manchester's grip on the Premier League
Since the Premier League launched in 1992, the title has rarely strayed far from Manchester. Manchester United set the standard with 13 championships, almost all under Sir Alex Ferguson, whose sides defined the competition's first two decades. Manchester City have taken over in the modern era, their 8 titles including an unprecedented run of dominance under Pep Guardiola.
Chelsea (5) and Arsenal (4) are the other multiple winners, with Arsenal's 2003–04 'Invincibles' remaining the only team to go a full league season unbeaten. Liverpool, England's most successful club in Europe, have added two Premier League crowns to their long history.
Only seven clubs have ever been champions, and two of the most romantic wins came from outside the elite: Blackburn Rovers in 1995 and, most famously, Leicester City's 5,000-to-1 fairytale in 2016.
